XL4 penstock with 13 mWs
One of the largest and most important pilot projects in Croatia in 2017, with the task of combining agricultural irrigation with flood protection, was recently completed. The project, which is 80% financed by the EU, serves on the one hand for irrigation and thus for soil improvement of the so-called BIDJ-BOSUT field with the help of a 14.5-kilometer-long canal and, on the other hand, protection against flooding in the event of high water from the adjacent Sava River.

The municipality of Oberndorf in Salzburger Land has revised its flood protection concept due to the extreme flooding in June 2013. The location was a particular challenge: three streams flow directly into the Salzach in the local area. A flood overflow tower and a pumping station with screw conveyors form the center of the protection system.

After the extreme floods in May 2014, which caused dozens of deaths and great financial damage in the region, the project of the flood protection structure was pushed ahead by the state with high priority. On January 14th, 2015, the four XL4 penstocks could be installed in a flood protection structure in be installed on site near Brčko by our assembly team.

In order to be able to continue to operate the longest district heating network in Central Europe reliably in the future, modernization measures are constantly being implemented. Our XL4 penstocks meet an absolute tightness according to EN 12266 and can withstand a pressure of 1.0 bar with a water column of 10 m.
